Fredericton goaltender Jake Allen rejoins St. Louis Blues

Fredericton goaltender Jake Allen says it's a dream come true to be taking to the ice with the NHL's St. Louis Blues again this season.

A New Brunswick goaltender will start the hockey season with the NHL's St. Louis Blues.

Jake Allen, 23,says it's a dream come true to know he will be on the Blues' opening night roster.

"Yeah, you know there's so many kids that play hockey, especially in Canada, that dream of playing in the NHL. But the margin, in reality, it's pretty slim," he said.

"And to be able to get there be one of the few that actually get a chance to fulfill your dream in playing hockey is pretty special."

Allen had a brief stint with the St. Louis Blues two seasonsago, but spent last season in the minors.

He played with the Chicago Wolves and was theAmerican Hockey League's goaltender of the year.

"I know going into the season that it's me and Brian Elliott, a great goalie I respect, I admire, and I've learned a lot from in the past few years," said Allen.

"So I'm looking forward to just going there, and compete for some startsand hopefully learn some more from him."

The first regular season game for the St. Louis Blues will beon Oct.9, when the team hosts the New York Rangers.
