Fredericton police officer arrested for drunk driving after crash

A Fredericton police officer has been suspended with pay after being arrested for impaired driving.

Officer involved in single motor-vehicle crash Sunday

A Fredericton police officer was arrested for impaired driving after a single motor-vehicle accident on the city's north side on Sunday.

Charges are pending against the officer, who was off duty at the time, the Fredericton Police said on Monday.

The officer sustained minor injuries in the crash, which took place shortly after 8 p.m, a police spokeswoman confirmed.

The officer has been suspended with pay.

A Police Act investigation will be launched after the criminal process is completed, the policedepartment said.

This isn't the first suspended officer of the summer.

About six weeks ago, the Fredericton Police force faced a very similar situation, where an officer was was suspended for impaired driving while off duty on July 9.

A police officer was also caught on tape earlier in the summerhitting a pedestrian in a police cruiser while on duty,then putting the person in the back of the car without waiting for any emergency help.

And another officer was suspended in July for criminal allegations which took place outside the country.
