New Brunswick

Health department confirms 10th swine flu case in N.B.

The Department of Health has confirmed New Brunswick's 10th case of swine flu on Tuesday.

The provincial health department has confirmed New Brunswick's 10th case of swine flu on Tuesday.

Dr. Eilish Cleary, the province's chief medical officer of health, said the department received confirmation on Tuesday that a woman in her 50s from the Fredericton area has contracted the H1N1 virus.

The number of cases spiked in the province to nine from four in the span of two days last week.

Cleary said people should continue to use preventative measures to limit the potential to spread the flu virus, such as washing their hands thoroughly and coughing or sneezing into sleeves.

So far none of the swine flu cases reported in the province since late April have required hospitalization.
