The call about the fire came in shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night. The house is located within the 900 block ofAmiraultStreet in Dieppe.

"People could see flames and smoke coming out of the roof," said Landry.

He saidit took firefighters about30 minutes to extinguish the flames.

But they remainedon scene for fourhours to make sure it would not start again. They also struggled against the cold.

"The conditions weren't ideal because of the cold," he said. "Thehoses were freezing, our breathing apparatuses were freezing, there was lots of water everywhere so it was getting slippery."

Landry said it appears there was a business inside the house and thefamily might be able to salvage some photos.

The fire department is continuing to investigate what started the fire and hopesto reporton its causeby the end of the day today.

"We can't even speculate at this point, there's so much damage, there's so much water, everything's frozen," said Landry.

"We're not ruling out anything."
