Inmate dies at the Saint John jail

Saint John Police have confirmed that a 39-year-old inmate at the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre died on Tuesday.

Emergency responders were called to the facility yesterday, shortly after 1 p.m.

The man's name was not being released pending notification of his family.

Officials say it's taking some time, as many of the relatives live in Nova Scotia.

Police do not suspect foul play in the inmate's death but they are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
