3 new judges appointed to provincial court bench

Three new provincial court judges have been appointed by the Brian Gallant government.

Suzanne Bernard of Campbellton, Eric Sonier of Tracadie and Denise LeBlanc of Moncton were named to the bench Thursday by Justice Minister Stephen Horsman.

"All of the judges appointed today are well-respected lawyers and have extensive legal experience," said Horsman in a news release. "I am confident their leadership will serve the public well."

All three new judges are graduates of the law school at the University of Moncton.

Bernard has been working for the department of public prosecutions since 1997. she will be a travelling judge based out of Campbellton.

Sonierhas been a partner in the firm of SonierDuguay in Tracadie. He will be a travelling judge based out of Tracadie.

LeBlanc joined McInnisCooper in 2004 and has been the firm's senior partner in Moncton. She will be a travelling judge based out of Moncton.

There are now 23 full-time provincial court judges in addition to 11 supernumerary judges who don't carry a full caseload.
