A Saint John teenager who had been missing since Saturday was found dead Monday by search and rescue crews.

Gavin Adams was last seen Saturday night on Chesley Drive.

His body was discovered about 4:30 p.m. Monday, a short distance away from where he was last seen.

"I know that search and rescue probably had been here about two hours," said Saint John Police Force Staff Sgt. Mike King. "It did take them some time to get set up and as part of that they were moving some snow around here, and that's when the body was discovered."

Police contacted the family of the missing teen soon after and the body was identified.

The family released a statement through family friend Geoff Britt.

"The Adams family is deeply saddened by the passing of Gavin. We are grateful for the 17 joyous years that he gave us. Gavin touched the lives of many, and he will be profoundly missed."
