Moncton body may be man wanted in prof's slaying

New Brunswick RCMP have found a body that may be the man suspected of killing St. Thomas University Prof. John McKendy.

McKendy's body was found early Friday morning in his home in Douglas, near Fredericton, after RCMP were called.

On Saturday morning, police found the body they believe may bethat of Nicholas Wade Baker, 27, although "no positive identification has yet been made," RCMP said in a news release.

The body was found in a car in the parking lot of a Moncton motel. The car had been rentedby Baker earlier in the week.

The RCMP issued a Canada-wide warrant for Baker in the first-degree murder of McKendy, 60,on Saturday.

Identification of the body"may take until later this weekend to do," the RCMP release said.

An RCMP spokesman would not comment on how either McKendy, a sociology professor,orBaker died.

A woman was taken to hospital Friday with non-life-threatening injuries in connection with the case, but no details have been released.
