An industrial medical marijuana growing facility is undergoing final inspections by Health Canada, and the man behind the operation says hes confident hell be selling pot in a matter of weeks.

An industrial medical marijuana growing facility is undergoing final inspections by Health Canada, and the man behind the operation says hes confident hell be selling pot in a matter of weeks.

Jim Laffoley, the chief executive of Moncton-based OrganiGram Inc., wants to open a 22,000 square foot medical marijuana facility. He said hes already getting plenty of calls from the public.

"We get inquiries from people that run the gamut from wantto sell us something to people who are in the existing program and are looking for a local supplier because it's importantfor them to keep the business in Atlantic Canada," he said.

"And we hear from people who have difficulty in accepting the program and what it represents."

Laffoley has been pre-approved by Health Canada and final inspections are underway. He said he hopesto be up and running by the end of March.

Health Canada says more than 400 applications to grow medical marijuana have been submitted.

Laffoley said he's prepared to triple the size of his operation in the next 18 months, if the market demands it.
