Some Nova Scotians are driving to New Brunswick to stock up on cheaper beer as NBLiquor is looking to to compete against low prices this summer from another neighbouring province, Quebec.

New Brunswick's liquor corporation is hoping tokeep New Brunswickers buying in New Brunswick with a promotion that is selling 60 cans of beer for $75 instead of $112.

Only a few days after the sales blitz was launched, it seems the prices areluring NovaScotiansover the border.

Paul James came from Bible Hill to the Sackvillestore on Thursday to stock up on some cheap suds.

"I was just on a shopping trip and I saw the deal on TV for the four for $75 and I thought I'd just grab some on the way," he explained.

Brenda Seligcrossed the Chignectoisthmus fromAmherst to cash in on the sale.

"Nothing's cheap in life. We saw it on the news and it was like, wow, we're going to Sackville tomorrow. So we're here in Sackville," she said.

Al Davis made a stop on his way home to Springhill.

"We were in Moncton shopping and just thought we'd stop in and pick up a few cases at this good price," he said.

"I think it's great. It should be all year round, not 53 days."

The summer promotion on six brands of beerallows customers to buy four 15 packs for $75, which works out to a $1.25 a can.

The brands involved in the promotion are Alpine, Moosehead Light, Coors Light, Molson Canadian, Budweiser and Bud Light. The promotion ends onLabour Day.

Provincial rules dictate that Nova Scotians are allowed to transport up to 24 litres of beer, for personal use, purchased in another province. That works out to about 70 regular cans.
