NB Power reports thousands of power outages across province

NB Power is reporting 2,319 customers are still without power after high winds knocked down trees and power poles across the province overnight Thursday.

NBPower is reporting 2,319 customers are still without power after high winds knocked down trees and power poles across the province overnight Thursday.

The majority of the current power outages are in Charlotte, Kings and Queens counties, with more than1,800 customers in the southwestern tip of the province still affected.

Power outages caused Anglophone South School District to close Sir James Dunn, Vincent Massey, Lawrence Station,Campobello, Deer Island, Back Bay,White Head School and St George Elementaryschools.

The New Brunswick Community College in SaintAndrews also closed because of power problems.

NB Power said it is moving 24 crews into Charlotte County to help deal with the outages.

As of 2:45p.m.on Friday, the largest outage was in the Charlotte Southwest region with 1,861customers without power.

There were 93people in Central York Sunburywithout powerand 358in Kings-Queens.
