Province creates website to prevent internet child exploitation

The provincial government is launching a new cyber safety website to prevent the exploitation of children on the internet.

The provincial government is launching a new cyber safety website and videos to help prevent the exploitation of children on the internet.

The new websiteis designed to educateparents and children about potentialthreats to children online. It alsolists tips to combat these threats.

In a release,Public Safety Minister StephenHorsman said, ""Internet child exploitation is a global problem and New Brunswick is not immune to this type of crime."

The siteurges parents to be involved in what their children are doing online, and monitor the things they do on the internet.

The website has been launched as part ofa comprehensive Internet Child Exploitation Strategic Framework with the department of Public Safety.

In conjunction with the launch, workshops arebeing held in Moncton and Bathurstforteachers, social workers and police officers.
