New Brunswick weather: Fresh blanket of snow covers New Brunswick

An area of low pressure tracking south of Nova Scotia today is responsible for the fresh blanket of snow covering most of the Maritimes, says CBC meteorologist Peter Coade.

An area of low pressure tracking south of Nova Scotiaon Monday is responsible for the fresh blanket of snow covering most of the Maritimes, says CBC meteorologist Peter Coade.

"As the disturbance moves acrossthe island of Newfoundland and Labrador tonight the skies will gradually clear over the Maritimes," Coade says.

He says Tuesday will be a mostly sunny day but thatfair weatherwill be short lived as another disturbance will move in on Wednesday.

"This next disturbance is a vigorous area of low pressure that will bring moresnow to southern Ontario and the Ottawa Valley tomorrow then to the Maritimes before daybreakWednesday."

Coadesays a large are of high pressure will be across the region for the latter part of the week ensuring another mostly sunny weekend.

"With the exception of Wednesdaysmilder temperature, afternoon temperatures will once again fall back to a bit colder than the normal."

The monthly temperature forecast for March was released by Environment Canada on Saturday.

It indicatestemperatures will be near normal for New Brunswick and therest of mainland NovaScotia,warmer than normal temperatures for the south shore of Nova Scotia and the AnnapolisValley andcolder than normal for Cape Breton and Prince Edward Island.

Scattered flurries across province

Monday in northern New Brunswick will be cloudy with light snow tapering in the morning to scattered flurries and winds from the northwest at 20 to 30 km/h.

The high for Monday is 2 C with the wind chill making it feel near 10.

For the Fredericton area, Monday will be cloudy with snow tapering to scattered flurries before noon and a further snowfall of threecentimetres expected.

Winds will be from the northwest at 20 km/hin the afternoon with a high of 2 C, feeling near 8with the wind.

In southern New Brunswick, Monday will be cloudy with snow ending before noon west of Sussex and this afternoon in the east.

Another three centimetres of snow is expected with winds from the northwest at 20 km/h, gusting to 40 km/h, in the east and a high of 2 C, but feeling near 11with the wind.
