New Brunswick weather: Weekend will start with a windy Friday

The disturbance that laid down a fresh blanket of snow over the Maritimes will continue tracking to the northeast over Labrador, however it will remain cloudy on Friday, according to CBC meteorologist Peter Coade.

The disturbance that laid down afresh blanket of snow over the Maritimeson Friday will continue tracking to the northeast over Labrador, however it will remain cloudy on Friday, according to CBC meteorologist Peter Coade.

"So no realclearing can be expected until overnight tonight as a ridge of high pressure builds into the region. This feature will ensure a mostly sunny but slightly colder Saturday," Coade said.

Coade says another disturbance will track across the Maritimes during the day on Sunday.

"This nastyfeature will spread snow across the entire region, starting in the west, around midnightSaturday night," he said.

Coade expects snow will change to rain in Nova Scotia and become mixed with or possibly change to rain in southern New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

As the disturbance moves out on Sunday night, temperatures are expected to drop.

"We may be looking at a 'flash-freeze'scene for Sunday night as temperatures will be dropping to well below the normal forMonday, Coade said.

On Friday, people in northern New Brunswick will see a mainly cloudy day with scattered flurries. The temperatures will fall to near 10 C and it will feel like 20 C with the wind.

For the Fredericton area, itwill be cloudy with a chance of flurries and local blowing snow on Friday.The afternoon will clearto a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 6 C, feeling like 16.

In southern New Brunswick on Friday, it will be windy with a mix of sun and cloud and a chance of flurries.

Winds will be from the south gusting to 50 kilometres per hour, except on the Tantramar Marsh where gusts of 80 km/h can be expected.

The temperature will fall to 10 C Friday afternoon with a wind chill making it feel like 17.
