Wrestling legends from the 1980s are going head to head with some up and coming talent in Saint John Tuesday.

Wrestling legends from the 1980s are going head to head with some up and coming talent in Saint John Tuesday.

Professional wrestling groups from Saint John and Halifax are putting on the event that features former stars like the Honky Tonk Man, Bush Wacker Lukeand Marty Jennetty.

It's the energy from the crowd that keeps Jennetty in the ring.

"Bumping around a ringit hurts more. It always hurts, but it hurts a little more after 26 years than it did the first few years," said Jennetty, a one-time World Wrestling Federation tag-team partner of Shawn Michaels.

It was a legendary wrestling friendship, that ended when Michaels threw him through a pane of glass.

"So you really have to be out there for the love of the fans and the business to do that to your body," said Jennetty.

Ryan Heath runs XWA wrestling in Saint John and helped organize the event. He's a wrestler and grew up watching the stars of the 1980s and 90s. He'll be joining the stars in the ring Tuesday.

"To finally be able to lace my boots in the same locker room as these guys is an absolute honour ," said Heath.

"I have all the respect in the world for these guys and what they've done for the business."

Saint John is the last stop on a Maritime tour for the wrestling veterans.

Tuesday's event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Lord Beaverbrook Rink.
