The RCMP are raising concerns after seeing three people killed and seven others critically injured in seven motor vehicle accidents in the provincesince June 1.

RCMP say speeding, impaired driving, not wearing a seatbelt, or a combination of those factors, were major factors in almost all of the accidents.

"Summer is when we usually have our highest number of crashes, so to be only a week into June and to see this many is concerning," said Staff Sgt. Gilles Blinn of the RCMP's traffic division in New Brunswick.

"There appears to remain the attitude that, 'It can't happen to me.' That attitude has to change or we're going to continue to be knocking on doors to tell people their loved one is in the hospital or not coming home for a reason that is so easily preventable."

RCMP say they will take a "zero-tolerance approach" to people speeding, not wearing a seatbeltor driving while impaired.

Anyone witnessingsuch behaviour is asked to take note of the make, model and licence plate number of the vehicle and call 911.
