Human bones discovered in Campbellton

The RCMP are investigating the discovery of human remains near New Dam Lake, just south of Campbellton.

A man discovered the bones while walking near the shoreline in Sugarloaf Park, said Sgt. Stephen Dibblee in a release.

The man reported his discovery to police on Monday, about 6 p.m.

The bones are now being analyzed to confirm the person's identity and the circumstances surrounding the death, said Dibblee.

He said the investigation is ongoing, with the assistance of the RCMP's forensic identification section.
