University confirms 2 new emails in Moncton 'revenge porn' case

The University of Moncton is confirming two more emails, the fifth and sixth, were sent to students and staff from the same source Tuesday.

Communications officer Ghislaine Arsenaultsaid the emails arrived at 10:18 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. and were deleted by the IT department.

She said the department deleted the fifth email at 10:43 p.m. Tuesday and the sixth, at 1:02 a.m. Wednesday.

The first emails arrivedon Saturday and Sunday and contained a sexually explicit photo of a woman who is a student at the university.

The email also contained hateful and threatening language, a link to the woman's Facebook profile and a link to a sex video.

The student has filed a complaint with RCMP and on Tuesday, police said they had identified a possible suspect in what appeared to be a case of "revenge porn."

Student union 'disgusted'

RoxannGuerrette, president of the student unionFECUM, said the two most recent emails continued to target the same student.

One email appeared to be sent from the FECUM account and the other from the University of Moncton.

"My first reaction was to call the administration, obviously," she said. "I was disgusted nothing had been done yet."

"I have no clue what's going on or why they can't block that email," Guerrette said.

Arsenault said in a statement that the universitywill not be making any further comments.

"We do not want to intervene in theRCMP'sinvestigation."

Guerrette saidif students see another email they should contact the university administration immediately.

CBC News has contacted New Brunswick RCMP for an update on the investigation but has not yet received a response.
