2 women charged with murder in Grand Falls-Windsor death

Two women have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a man found at a home in Grand Falls-Windsor this weekend.

Wanda Ash, 34,and Pamela Pike, 31, weretaken into custody on Sunday and charged on Monday, a day after police found Jason Skinner dead at a home on 18th Avenue.

Pike sobbed loudly as she waited for the judge.

Both women have criminal records.

Ash and Pike have been remanded into custody until court appearancesonMay 1. The court has forbidden them from having contact with each other.

The two women had been taken into custody on Sunday.

Police release more details

Meanwhile, more information has emerged about the circumstances surrounding Skinner's death.

Police said they were called to the house on 18th Ave. on Sunday morning.

They found Skinner seriously injured inside the house, and rushed him to the town's hospital where he later died.

RCMP have not released information on Skinner'scause of death.

Police tape circled a small green house on 18th Avenue. Neighbours said emergency vehicles arrived on the scene on Sunday morning, after 10 a.m.

"[The] ambulance came up there, and a couple police cruisers and that, and went in, and a couple girls come out screaming," said James Whiffen.

Kevin Whiffensaid police tape was quickly put up around the house.

"Everybody knows that something happened there, something serious," he said, adding that there has been trouble at the house before.

"There's usually cops here. We noticed there's a lot of cars going in and out of that building, like yesterday," he said onSunday. "We see fellers there, and you pretty well get the idea that they're peddling drugs."

Skinner new to house, say neighbours

Neighbours said Skinner had only moved in to the house a few days before his death.

Tributes to Skinner pouring in on Facebook show that his parents were from Baie Verte, and they split their time between Springdale and Fort McMurray.

The RCMP have called in forensic and major crimes units to investigate the case.

An autopsy on Skinner's body was carried out Monday in St. John's.
