909 traffic tickets issued over Thanksgiving weekend in Operation Impact

Over the Thanksgiving long weekend, police in Newfoundland and Labrador issued 909 tickets for traffic violations in Operation Impact.

Over the Thanksgiving long weekend, police in Newfoundland and Labrador issued 909 tickets for traffic violations in Operation Impact.

Checkpoints were set up over the holiday weekend to catch drivers who were impaired, aggressive, distracted, or not wearing seatbelts.

The majority of the tickets 599 issued were for speeding or aggressive driving.

RCMP said a unit on the west coast also seized twelve pounds of marijuana, along with a rental car, in a traffic stop over the weekend.
