Amelia Curran, Matthew Byrne, Fortunate Ones win Folk Music Awards

Newfoundland and Labrador performers took home some big awards Sunday night at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Amelia Curran won the contemporary singer and English songwriter of the yearfor her album They Promised You Mercy.

Duo Fortunate Ones took home the vocal group of the yearfor The Bliss.

Meanwhile, Matthew Byrne's Hearts & Heroes was awarded the traditional album of the year.

The Swinging Belles took home children's album of the year for More Sheep, Less Sleep.

The awards were hosted in Edmonton.
