Bail hearing postponed for Brandon Phillips until January

The bail hearing scheduled to go ahead Wednesday for a St. John's man accused of first-degree murder has been set over until the new year.

The bail hearing scheduled to go ahead Wednesday for a St. John's man accused of first-degree murder has been set over until the new year.

Brandon Phillips is facing first-degree murder and armed robbery charges in relation to an Oct. 3 robbery at the Captain's Quarters Hotel in St. John's.

Larry Wellman, 63, died en route to hospital after trying to intervene in the robbery in the hotel's bar.

Phillips will now head to a bail hearing on Jan. 21.

The hearing is slated to lasttwo days.

He is represented by Mark Gruchy and Jeff Brace. The case is beingprosecuted by Nova Scotia lawyersMark Heerema and Shauna MacDonald.
