A Botwood homeowner is facing a charge of attempted murder following a home invasion Saturday night

Gilbert Budgell, the Botwood man who is accused of attempted murder after two suspects invaded his home over the weekend, will have a bail hearing on Thursday.

Budgell, 53, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of afirearm while prohibited,after two men entered his home on Swanee Pool RoadSaturday night.

Police allege in court documents that Budgell "attempted to murder a male of unknown identity while using a firearm by shooting him."

RCMP officers were still at the scene of a home on Swanee Pool Road in Botwood on Sunday, following a shooting that sent one man to hospital with serious injuries.

One suspect sustained life-threatening injuries and is being treated at the Health Sciences Centrein St. John's. Police said Monday afternoon the man remains in critical condition.

Policeare not commenting on howa homeowner, whose residence was invaded, came to be charged with such serious offences, or whyBudgell is believed to have shot one of the two men.

RCMP said they are still looking for the second home invasion suspect.
