British Airways flight from U.K. to Florida lands in St. John's for medical emergency

A Boeing 777 had to make an emergency landing at St. John's International Airport on Thursday.

No word on condition of passenger who required medical attention

A Boeing 777 airlinerhad to make an emergency landing at St. John's International AirportThursday afternoon.

The British Airways jet was heading from London, England to Tampa, Florida, when it rerouted to Newfoundland to make an unscheduled landing due to a medical emergency on board.

The jet landed just after 2 p.m., but there is no wordon the condition of the traveller who was treated.

An airport official told CBC News the plane was set to depart for Florida before 4 p.m. Thursday.
