Cabot Tower parking lot on Signal Hill to close for renovations

You'll have to walk if you want to get to the top of Signal Hill, starting September 6, because of renovations that will shut down the Cabot Tower parking lot for several months.

Lace up your sneakers. One of the most popular sightseeing spots in St. John's will be accessible to walkers only for the rest of 2016.

The Cabot Tower parking lot on Signal Hill will be closed to vehicle traffic starting September 6 for several months, because of renovations.

Cabot Tower itself, the Visitor Centreand most walking trails in the area will remain open. But drivers will not be able to park at the top.

Parks Canada says the closure is necessary to upgrade the parking lot and work willalso include underground electrical installation and curb and sidewalk modifications.
