The town of Cartwrighthas a message for Nalcor: Bring Muskrat Falls through our town without our consent, and we will take action.

About 40 residents of the townvoted unanimously at a public meeting Wednesday night that the town shouldnot allow the transportation of transformers through the community unless all vegetation and soil is removed from the reservoir area for the project.

"If an attempt is made to use our port without residents consenting, there will be on the ground action taken," reads a Facebook post from council Wednesday evening.

"The residents of Cartwright are reaching out to neighbouring communities and Labrador's three aboriginal groups to support this effort to stop the poisoning of our environment and termination of culture," the post continues. "The residents of Cartwright feel that there is no pricetag on the safety and security of our wild food chain, or positive mental health that comes along with carrying on our traditions and culture."

Cartwright Mayor Dwight Lethbridge said the town council supports the residents' decision.
