Charge laid in fatal motorcycle accident on Northern Peninsula

One woman died last week when a car crossed over the road from the northbound to the southbound lane of Route 430, south of Wiltondale.

The driver of a car involved in an Aug.7fatal collision with three motorcycles on Route 430 on Newfoundland's Northern Peninsula has been charged.

The RCMPconfirmed Monday that the driver of the car has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act, but had no other information to release.

Police said at the time of the accident that thecar crossed over from the northbound to the southbound lane of Route 430, four kilometressouth of Wiltondale.

One of the motorcycle drivers, a 45-year-oldwoman, diedat the scene.

Two other motorcycle drivers, both male, were taken to hospital. One was released and the other remains in hospital with seriousinjuries.

The driver and passenger of the car were also taken to hospital.

All of the people involved in the accident were from outside the province.
