Christopher Ford Butt fit to stand trial

A St. John's man charged with sexualoffenses against a girl under 16 has been found fit to stand trial.

Christopher Ford Butt, 38, is alleged to have sexually assaulted a girl a number of times over a six-week period.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says Butt knew the alleged victim.

Butt was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual interference and threatening the girl whose age was not released.

He is due back in court on August 26.

Butt has a criminal history from western and central Newfoundland dating back 20 years.
