Newfoundland and Labrador Public Libraries (NLPL) has released a complete list of the 54 libraries that will be closing in the province.

Another 41 libraries, most inlarger communities in the province, will be staying open.

Some of the libraries areslated to shut down in 2016-2017, while others are tentatively scheduled to close in 2017-2018.

Officials from NLPL said the proposed closure dates may be subject to change.

Many of the libraries closing are located in neighbourhood schools, while others are inside of municipal buildings or owned byNLPL.

The closures come as NLPL attempts to move to a regional library model in the wake of severe budget cuts.

64 workers are expected to lose their jobs because of the closures.
