Dale Porter homicide: Sister encouraged by new DNA evidence

Dale Porter's sisteris hopeful that new evidence in the case of her brother's violent death will finally lead to an arrest in the case.

The RCMP revealed Thursday thatcritical DNA results from evidence collected following the homicide of the North River man are now being analyzed by investigators.

Porter, 39, was found seriously injured outside his home during the early hours of June 29.He later died.

It's been an excruciating time for Porter's family. They havewaitedpatiently for a break in the case, and his sister, Jennifer Reid, is encouraged that investigators now have more evidence.

"This is an important step," Reid said.

A news release issued Thursday by the RCMP says this latest evidence is being applied to the information already gathered by investigators.

"TheRCMP has, and will be, following up on all investigative avenues in this ongoingmurder investigation," said the release.

It's been more than four months since Porter's death, and no arrests have been made.

Police say it takes time to process DNA evidence at the RCMP's laboratory, and samples are processed on a priority basis.

The time needed to process exhibits is directly proportional to the amount of exhibits sent for processingand the case load of laboratory staff.

Investigators continue to urge anyone withinformation relating to Porter's death to contact the RCMP.
