Eastern Health launched a new mental health and addictions walk-in service for people 12 and older at multiple sites this week.

The DoorWays service launched Feb. 27 in St. John's, Harbour Grace, Holyrood, Witless Bay, Marystown, Clarenville, Whitbourne and Ferryland, on a fixed schedule.

Health-care professionals, including psychologists, nurses, addictions counsellors and social workers will offer single-session therapy services on a first-come, first-serve basis for anyone who needs to speak to someone immediately.

The clinics will be open to anyone 12 and older.

"There is no triage, no intake process, and no wait list," read a statement on Eastern Health's website.

"There is no formal assessment and no formal diagnostic process, just one hour of therapy focused on the clients' stated needs."
