Ecstasy, weapons found in Carbonear

Two men stopped by police in Carbonear, on Newfoundland's Conception Bay, were scheduled to appearin provincial court Friday on drug and weapons charges.

The RCMP said they arrested the men Thursday afternoon when the forcechecked a suspicious vehicle near the Carbonear mall.

Policesaid they found ecstasy, a nine-inch dagger and a piece of lumber with nails sticking out of one end.

Both men are charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

One of them also is charged with having a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.

The men were scheduled to appear in provincial court in Harbour Grace, near Carbonear, on Friday afternoon.
