Health officials in central Newfoundland are reviewing months of diagnostic test reports after discovering a mix up where half a dozen reports were based on the wrong tests.

Central Health said Thursday that some radiology reports at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre include errors but it hadnt figured out how many yet.

The health authority said the tests were done for two visiting radiologists between October and December 2010 and between June and September 2011.

Officials said that six reports, which have been identified as erroneous, were based on earlier diagnostic test results rather the newest ones.

A news release from Central Health didnt say if any patients were harmed by the errors.

The authority said it wont know exactly how many reports were erroneous until Nov. 7.

The reports are used by physicians to determine treatment options for patients.

The health authority said any patient affected by a mistake will be notified within ten days.
