Flagperson knocked down on Kenmount Road, sent to hospital

A flagperson was taken to hospital in St. John's, after being knocked down by a vehicle driving through a construction zone on Kenmount Road late Thursday morning.

A flagpersonwas taken to hospital in St. John's after being knocked down by a vehicle driving through a construction zone on Kenmount Road late Thursday morning.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the accident happened after a person driving eastbound on the main thoroughfare drove past a flagperson, who was attempting to stop traffic.

The driver then knocked down a female flagperson, after driving a short distance past the first flagholder.

The woman haswhat arebelieved to be non-life threatening injuries.

Accident investigators were still on the scene early Thursday afternoon.

A portion of the eastbound laneon Kenmount Road remains closed.

Police said the driver was not hurt, but the vehicle sustained minor damage.
