A man in Sheshatshiu has created an ice sculpture garden outside his home, working day and night since late November to carve the frozen statues.

Gabriel Rich carved Disney-favourite Frozen characters like Elsa, Anna and Olaf completely out of ice.

Rich even created a frozen castle, complete with a small ice-skating rink inside.

He said the inspiration came after watching the movie Frozenwith his daughter, and he spent a lot of time over the last two months working to finish the project.

"When I'm hungry, I go in. When I'm tired, I go drink some coffee and come back out. Really short breaks because time was precious," he said.

"And when I work on one of the sculptures it's [from] 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. I had no idea it was night again. Time flew."

Rich said since he finished carving, there has been a lot of traffic outside his home with people stopping by to take a look.

"Those pictures are out in Quebec and the Innu towns, on the coast. People are really, really excited about it," he said.

"It's the first time I've ever seen anyone do it and I had no idea I had it in me, right?"

Rich's ice garden won him some cash in the community's Christmas lights contest, and after this first project Rich added he plans to go even bigger next year.
