The Galway Hitmen are now five-time Canadian men's fast pitch softball champions, following this weekend's tournament in St. John's.

The annual tournament was hosted by Softball Newfoundland and Labrador in Pleasantville Saturday and Sunday.

The Hitmen defeated Kelly's Pub Molson Bulldogs with a score of 3-0 in the championship game, scoring three runs in the sixth inning.

Sean Cleary, who was also awarded most valuable player, pitched a three-hitter and had 10 strikeouts.

The win is especially significant for the Galway Hitman as it marks the fifth straight win, a feat that has never been achieved since the national championships began in 1965.
