Syrian refugees greeted at Gander airport by other sponsored families

A Syrian refugee family sponsored by the Gander Refugee Outreach group was welcome at the airport by three other sponsored families.

A plane carrying Gander's fourth Syrian refugee family landed this morning. The family of five has spent days traveling to get to to Gander.

The Gander Refugee Outreach group welcomed the fourth Syrian refugee family to town early Friday morning.

The family of five was met by agroup of volunteers, as well as thefirst threefamiliesthat were sponsored by theGander community.

His family was the first to arrive in Gander this summer. Since then,AlsayedAli has already found work at a local restaurant.

To greet his new community members,AlsayedAli brought Canadian pins and Canadian flags to the airport early Friday morningforthe new family as awelcominggift.

"I'm here in Gander three months, all the people here are very, very good," said Alsayed Ali.

"Very happy, my children are now in school."
