Remembering Quinn, Harbour Grace unveils new playground equipment

The town of Harbour Grace has dedicated a new piece of playground equipment to Quinn Butt, a five-year-old who died in April.

The town of Harbour Grace has dedicated a new piece of playground equipmentto Quinn Butt, a five-year-old who died in April.

Her father, Trent Butt, is facing first-degree murder charges connected to her death.

"It's a tragedy that should never have happened," said Mayor Terry Barnes.

The new climbing and sliding structure is in Quinn's two favourite colours, pink and purple, and her photo is displayed at the top.

"We wanted to do that on behalf of the town to keep her memory alive," said Barnes.

TheH. RossSheppardMemorial Playground has a special connection to Quinn and her family. It's where she used to play when visiting Harbour Grace, and it's also whereher mother, Andrea Gosse, played as a child.

"It's an easing place for family and her close friends to go to and feel a little bit closer to where she had played," said Deputy Mayor Sonia Williams.

The play structure was unveiled on November 6th.

In August, a playgroundoutside Paradise Elementary School was named Quinn's Place in memory of the child.

Quinn was supposed to start kindergarten at that school this fall.
