Two men charged with using helicopter for illegal hunting

Two men have been charged with using an aircraft for hunting, after a helicopter was seized from a Hydro property near Bishop's Falls last December.

Two men havebeen charged with using an aircraft for hunting, after ahelicopter was seized from a Hydro property nearBishop's Falls lastDecember.

Jeffery Byrne and Daniel Byrnehavebeen accused of using an aircraft to hunt moose near South Twin Lake on December 6. They have also bothbeen charged withpossessing a big game animal in the same area.

Daniel Byrne has also been charged with possessing a loaded firearm in an aircraft.

In December, a helicopter was seized from Hydro property after a complaint that it was being used for an illegal big game hunt.

Fish and wildlife enforcement officers seized a helicopter and released it the next day, after collecting evidence.

At the time, the wildlife division said theinvestigation was not directed at Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro or any of its staff.

Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro says the aircraft seized belongedto Canadian Helicopters Limited.

The men are set to appear in court March 29.
