A long-time federal Liberal Party worker wants to run for the provincial Liberal party in the Humber West byelection.

Corner Brook native Mark Watton plans to file his nomination papers before the noon deadline on Saturday.

Watton, who now practises law inToronto,was a top advisor to former Prime Minister Paul Martin and the chief of staff to formerfederal cabinet minister Ken Dryden.

The Liberal Partynomination deadline is noon Saturday.

Vaughn Granter won the Progressive Conservativenomination Wednesday. .

The government has not set adate for the Humber West byelection.

The district's representative, former premier Danny Williams, resigned before Christmas.
