The closure is disappointing to Joanne Legge, a long-time skier who saidthe snow is just getting into a near-perfect condition.Legge said spring skiing is the best.

"The snow is nicer to ski on, and it's warm, andeverybody comes out because of the weather and it just makes people happy," she said.

Legge saidthere's still a lot of winter in Corner Brook, and she'd prefer if the hill found a way to stay open later in the year.

Some skiers are upset that marble mountain is closing even though there is still winter weather outside.

"This weekend is way too soon.I mean I think we still probably have about another six weeks of winter left, and for anybody who skis, I mean this is what we do all winter long," she said.

"So now the next six weeks are going to be, you know, a little bit of a drag because the hill's not going to be open."

A spokesperson for Marble Mountain said the resort budgeted for a closing date, and doesn't have any more money available to extend the skiing season.

A snowmobile race is scheduled on the hill on April 8 and 9.
