The lawyer for the family of a Newfoundland man shot dead by a member of the premier's security team says police findings won't be released for months.

Erin Breen says theRCMP told Don Dunphy's family forensic results are not expected until after August 15th.

Dunphy was killed by an unnamed Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer investigating perceived threats against provincial politicians on Twitter.

Premier Paul Davis has fended off calls for a public inquiry, saying police should finish their work first.
