Minimal minimum wage hike in 2014

The provincial government announced on Friday that the minimum wage will be increased by 25 cents on Oct. 1, 2014.

Currently, the minimum wage is$10 per hour.

The increase comes a year after a review panel recommended an increase for 2013.

The government-appointed panel also recommended tying the province's minimum wage to the Consumer Price Index starting in 2014.

The minimum wage will increase by 25 cents again in October 2015, when another review is planned.
