Man is dead after motorcycle drives off St. John's road, say police

A 44-year-old man is dead after driving his motorcycle into a wooded area in St. Johns.

RNC says the fatal single-vehicle collision is under investigation

A motorcyclist is dead after driving off the roadin a wooded area in St. John's, say police.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a collision at 7:05 p.m. NT on Wednesday inthe Gouldsneighbourhood, near Main Road.

They pronounceda 44-year-old man dead at the scene, according to a news release Thursday.

"RNC collision analysts are working with the Chief Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause of death,"the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said.

Cst. James Cadigantold CBC News that he spoke with an investigator who said the man might have been dead for 24 hours before police were alertedto his presence.

As part of its investigation, police are asking for video footage, such as CCTV and dash-cam, from the area that might show what happened to the motorcyclist.
