N.L. Anglican priest out on bail

An Anglican priest from Newfoundland and Labrador who's been charged with possessing and distributing child pornography was released from custody Friday after his parents posted bail.

An Anglican priest from Newfoundland and Labrador who's been charged with possessing and distributing child pornography wasreleased from custody Friday after his parents posted bail.

Rev.Robin Barrett of Conception Bay South, near St. John's, was arrested and taken into custody Tuesday.

Barrett, 50, served at St. Paul's Church in the Goulds area of St. John's until his arrest.

Police investigators from Toronto have alleged they obtained pornographic images of children from the priest after making contact with him in online chat rooms.

During a court appearance in St. John's Friday, Barrett's parents committed to a $50,000 surety.

He was released on conditions that his parents supervise him and that he live with them at their home in Bay Roberts, about 90 kilometres from St. John's.

The court ordered Barrettnot to access the internet oruse computers.

Healso isn't allowed to see histhree children unless their mother is present.

He's scheduled to be back in court Jan. 5.
