NAPE kicks off anti-budget campaign with St. John's rally

The provinces largest public sector union is kicking off its fight against the provincial budget with a protest in St. Johns.

Newfoundland and Labrador'slargest public sector union is kicking off itsfight against the provincial budget with a seriesofprotestsin St. John's.

Representatives and supporters with the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) beganprotesting outside of the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on Friday.

Protesters with NAPE later visited Eastern Health's Central Kitchen to continue the demonstration.

A staggered series of protests also involved the Waterford Hospital and Masonic Park.

Earlier this week, NAPE launched a province-wide advertisingblitz against the budget.

NAPE President Jerry Earlesaid protests are planned in Gambo on April 23, Bonavista on April 25, Bell Island on April 26, Harbour Grace on April 27, Wabush on April 29, Burin on May 3 and Grand Falls-Windsor on May 4.
