Air search for Natuashish teen grounded by weather

The search for a missing teenager near Natuashish was complicated by weather on Sunday.

The search for a missing teenager near Natuashishwas complicated by weather on Sunday.

The Joint Rescue Control Centre in Halifax has been using a Cormorant helicopter to searchthe area near the community since Friday, after the17-year-old malewas reported missing when he didn't return home Thursday night.

AnRCMP spokesperson saidair support was put on holdat 3:30 p.m. Sunday, due to "adverse weather conditions". The search aircraft is currently on hold in Goose Bayand will resume operations once conditions improve.

Police, volunteers from Natuashish and the local fire department are continuing the search on foot, along with police dogsand snowmobiles.

The air search was also temporarily put on hold on Friday due to weather conditions but resumed again on Saturday.

Police and volunteers from the local fire department received an "unconfirmed report" that the teen was seen in the community on Thursday around noon, but police said there were no more confirmations of hiswhereabouts.
