The NDP is promising to replace a women's shelter in Corner Brook, as part of its 2015 election platform.

Holly Pike, the New Democrat candidate in Corner Brook, made the commitment Tuesday.

Pike said the west coasttransition house badly needs to be replaced.

"Only one floor is accessible, and the centre has a number of water and sewer issues," Pike said in a statement.

"There are serious safety concerns for residents."

Pike said anNDP government would spend$500,000 on replacing the shelter, and wouldincrease annual funding to all women's centres around the province to $200,000.

She said the party would also provide multi-year funding for the centres, to allow them to plan for the longer term.
