Gas prices drop nearly 4 cents heading into Labour Day weekend

Drivers in Newfoundland and Labrador looking to get the last out of summerwill see a break at the pumps this Labour Day weekend.

Drivers in Newfoundland and Labrador looking to get the last out of summerwill see a break at the pumps this Labour Day weekend.

The Public Utilities Board lowered the maximum price of gasoline by 3.7 cents on Thursday, meaning drivers on the Avalon Peninsula will now pay a maximum price of just over $1.69 per litre.

Maximum prices vary across the rest of the province, but vary between $1.69 and $1.86 depending on your location in Newfoundland and between $1.64 and $2.20 per litre across Labrador.

The maximum price of diesel decreased by 1.7 cents per litre across much of the province, except by 2.3 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. The change means maximum prices now range between $1.72 and $1.84 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.87 and $2.59 per litre in Labrador.

Furnace oil decreased by 1.46 cents, meaning customers in Newfoundland will pay between $1.08 and $1.26 per litre depending on their location.

Stove oil decreased by the same amount, but decreased by 2.16 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. Maximum prices now range between $1.13 and $1.31 per across Newfoundland and between $1.24 and $1.94 per litre across Labrador.

Propane saw the smallest decrease,down 0.2 cents per litre. Maximum prices now range between 95 cents and $1.09 per litre in Newfoundland and between 82 cents and $1.26 per litre in Labrador.
