On Sunday, the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation is raising its prices on beer, wine and spirits.

The overall increase is about threeper cent, but the rise varies according to the brand and where it's produced, said a spokesperson with the NLC.

As an example, a dozen domestic beer will cost about $0.75 more, a spokesperson told CBC News Friday.

In general, mainstream spiritsincluding rum, whiskey and vodkaare going up by a dollar per 750 ml bottle.

Wine prices will vary from anywhere from afew cents to a few dollars, depending on the current price and country of origin.

The price changes are necessary to offset increased costs and to ensure the NLC meets its dividend target for the provincial government.
